Primary Work Activities
Assigns personnel to various cleaning, maintenance and custodial tasks and establishes work schedules and ensures a clean, safe, healthy, efficient learning environment for students.
Anticipates and troubleshoots issues that arise on a daily basis to prevent a disruption to the instructional program.
Maintains records and prepares reports on buildings and grounds maintenance activities.
Inspects regularly painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, heating systems, and other mechanical maintenance and construction performed by custodial or maintenance personnel or private contractors.
Directly oversees the location and maintenance of security equipment (camera, card swipes, key access, entrances, temperature scanners, etc.) across the District.
Regularly communicates with local municipal agencies regarding fire and safety protocols.
Evaluates: Custodians, Maintenance Personnel, and Groundskeepers.
Conducts staff meetings, as needed, to interpret changes in Board policy or administrative rules and to discuss developments.
Maintains school assets including buildings, playgrounds, grounds and equipment.
Works with architects and engineers to create and oversee Capital construction projects both large and small, including long term planning.
Maintains compliance with all Local, State and Federal regulatory agencies.
Is a Certified Director of Facilities through the NYS School Facilities Association and the School Facilities Management Institute. Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor, Pesticide applicator, Class C water operator, Class A fuel system operator.
Serves as a member of the Executive Cabinet.
Attends all relevant regional meetings and professional development and communicates important information back to relevant personnel.
Works collaboratively with the Executive Cabinet to prepare a District budget while overseeing the department budget.
Works closely with the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Personnel to resolve any personnel issues within the department.
Assumes other related duties as a member of the Executive Cabinet at the direction of the Superintendent.
