Hastings-Mallory Students Welcome Author and Illustrator for Presentation

Students at Hastings-Mallory Elementary School recently welcomed author and illustrator Daniel Jude Miller for an engaging visit that brought stories, creativity and plenty of laughter to the school community.
Miller visited the school to share insights into his life as both a writer and an illustrator. During his presentation, he spoke with students about how he discovered his passion for storytelling and art, and how those interests grew into a career creating books for young readers.
Throughout the interactive session, Miller discussed the creative process behind his work, including how he develops ideas, builds characters and transforms initial sketches into finished illustrations. He also shared how he finds creative motivation, encouraging students to draw inspiration from their own experiences, imaginations and everyday surroundings.
Students were actively involved during the presentation, frequently laughing at humorous anecdotes and clapping along as Miller demonstrated his drawing techniques and storytelling methods. The lively atmosphere reflected both the author’s engaging style and the students’ enthusiasm for reading and the arts.
The visit concluded with a question-and-answer session, giving students the opportunity to ask Miller about his favorite projects, challenges he has faced and advice for aspiring writers and artists.
The author visit at Hastings-Mallory Elementary provided students with a memorable experience that celebrated reading, creativity and the power of storytelling.
