Brewerton Elementary Walk-A-Thon Surpasses Fundraising Goal, Raising Over $20,000

The Brewerton Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization announced today that its annual Walk-A-Thon raised more than $20,000, surpassing its original target of $16,000.
The funds raised will directly support students, teachers and school programming, helping fund educational experiences and activities throughout the academic year.
More than 50 local business sponsorship signs were displayed outside the school during the event, reflecting widespread community backing. Sponsors received recognition on event T-shirts and social media, as well as invitations to host tables at the upcoming Spring Carnival.
As part of the event's traditions, fifth grader Hailey Simmons designed the official logo for the 2026 Walk-A-Thon T-shirt after winning a schoolwide design contest. Students who collected $30 or more in pledges earned a T-shirt featuring Simmons' design to wear during the walk.
Classrooms also engaged in friendly competition, with the top three fundraising classes earning a pizza party. The winning classrooms were led by teachers Gould (first place), Henry (second place) and Saunders (third place).
To encourage participation, Principal Vanessa McClowry promised to participate in a "silly-string showdown" if the school reached its $16,000 goal. With the goal exceeded by $4,000, McClowry will fulfill the challenge during an upcoming school assembly.
Brewerton Elementary, the PTO, and the Central Square School District extend a heartfelt thank-you to all families, staff, volunteers and business sponsors who contributed to the overwhelming success of this event.
